Air source heat pumps are a great way of producing your own heat. They can reduce your energy bills drastically and even work in below freezing temperatures!
Generates more energy than it uses:
Heat pumps generate 3 units of heat for every 1 unit of electricity used.
Works in below freezing conditions:
Heat pumps can generate heat in temperatures as low as -20°C.
High efficiency rating:
Heat pumps are more efficient than 90% A-rated efficient boilers.

Frequently Asked Questions
An air source heat pump (sometimes referred to as an air-to-water heat pump) transfers heat from the outside air to water. Heat from the air is absorbed into a fluid. This fluid then passes through a heat exchanger into the heat pump, which raises the temperature and then transfers that heat to water.
You’ll need somewhere outside your home where a unit can be fitted to a wall or placed on the ground. It must have some space around it to allow a good flow of air.
Compact heat pumps are specifically designed to heat small, well-insulated modern flats and homes. These only need a cupboard with around 80cm x 80cm floor space in the flat, and this should be near an exterior wall.
When installing air source heat pumps, it is very important to make sure your property is insulated. A well-insulated building significantly reduces heat loss through walls, floors and the roof. If heat is easily escaping the building, the air source heat pump will need to work twice as hard to generate more heat to replace that what is lost.
